And definmitivamente genes  play an important part in the texture of your curls and your overall appearance, but with the advanced technology and a demanding society in which we live, we have tools, techniques and products to fight them.
My hair is curly and is healthy and is beautiful to me because I care, because I love him.

My claim, I've been using these products for several days in different styles and the truth is I'm super surprised with the results, I appreciate a products that leave my hair soft, when a product leaves my curls rough to the touch, no matter for whatever purpose the products was made(detangle, moisturize, seal, hydrate, etc...) I don't need to be a scientist to know that this product does notwork for my type of hair.

It's really impressive that a serum, even with a few drops will leave your hair so soft and hydrated

Según Yo, he estado usando estos productos por varios días en diferentes estilos y la verdad es que estoy super sorprendida con los resultados, yo aprecio mucho los productos que dejan mi pelo suave, cuando un producto deja mis risos áspero al tacto, sin importar para lo que sea( desenredad, humectar, sellar, hidratar) no hay que ser científico para saber que ese producto no te prueba...

For cultural reasons unfortunately we educate our kids with the idea that straightened hair is better than curly hair or an afro. As a child I dreamed of having a healthy and long straight hair without one single curl. In high school the girls were really mean with me, laughed at me and my curly hair, I even felt the ugliest girl in the world because my hair so curly. When I was 14 years my mom relaxed my hair and I was the happiest girl ever! but as the time past I realize the disadvantages of losing your true identity, you become  somebody else just to fit in,  to be "accepted" and  my hair resented it, these burns in my scalp uuuyyyy.

When I wear  my hair wet with gel,  I loved it , I felt much better about myself, until some funny mean somebody cream at me" peínate" .Over the years, my hair looked like a burn sponge, lol, the same hair I keep on putting relaxer to make it look better.Everything change when a  neighbor came from Europe, with this beautiful afro, just gorgeous, I saw her and admire her because I found it authentic. Until I met my husband and move  to Spain, it was very difficult to find in the town where I live a good beauty salon that understand and do relaxer, so I took the most important decision of my life, stop relaxer and leave my natural hair to shine, It was was tough at the beginning , but I felt a great release! Now I feel more beautiful, I am genuine,! Everybody love and admire my hair, so many styles,  how I can play with.

Pues te contare que, por motivos culturales lamentablemente no nos educamos con la idea que tener el pelo alisado es mejor que un pelo rizado o afro. Desde pequeña soñaba con tener una larga melena saludable y sin un rizo. En bachillerato, había chicas muy malas personas que se reían de mi y de mi pelo, incluso llegue a sentirme la chica mas fea del mundo por tener el pelo rizo. Cuando cumplí los 14 años mi madre me aliso el pelo con desrizado y fui tan feliz!! pero pasado el tiempo me di cuenda de las desventajas de perder tu verdadera identidad, te conviertes en la persona que otros quieren que seas para ser "aceptada" sin embargo, mi pelo se resentía, esas quemaduras craneales que a veces te causa el desrizado uuuyyyy y cada vez que lo dejaba mojado con gelatina porque me encantaba dejarlo rizado, me sentía mucho mejor conmigo misma, hasta que venia algún gracioso o graciosa que me decía "peínate". 

Con el paso de los años, mi pelo ya era estropajo quemado jajajaja, pero yo seguía desrizandolo y un día vi una vecina que venia de Europa, con su pelo afro preciosooo, la vi y la admire porque me la encontré autentica. Hasta que conocí a mi marido, cuando vine a España, era muy difícil encontrar en el pueblo donde vivimos quien me desrizara el pelo y tome la decisión de mi vida, dejarme mi pelo natural, desde ese momento hasta que me creció fue duro pero, sentí una gran liberación!! ahora me siento mas guapa, me siento genuina, me siento yo!! todas admiran mi pelo, mis peinados y la forma en la que puedo jugar con el.

El pelo rizado en general es difícil de manejar, mientras son pequeños y el pelo es corto y suave no hay mayor problema, pero cuando comienzan a ir a la escuela y hay que peinarlo a diario no tenemos idea de qué hacer con su pelo para que se vea mejor y más saludable.

Estos tips te serán de mucha Ayuda:

• El primer paso es un buen corte de pelo por alguien que entienda el pelo rizado. El corte adecuado hará maravillas y ayudará  a deshacerse de todo el cabello dañado.
• Evitar que el cabello se vea seco y quebradizo siempre debe ser una prioridad. El error más común de los padres es lavar el cabello con demasiada frecuencia. Asegúrate de no lavarlo más de dos veces a la semana con un buen champú apropiado para niños libre de productos químicos nocivos. Luego aplica un buen acondicionador en crema. Mi consejo es dejar un poco de acondicionador en los extremos, en lugar de enjuagar completamente. Esto ayudará a proteger el cabello y a mejorar su condición. Por supuesto, un buen spray acondicionador sin enjuague siempre es útil para el cabello seco y quebradizo
• Al hacer algún estilo en tus pequeños ten presente que mientras mas pequeñas las seccione, mas el estilo durara.
• Las trenzas sueltas o pegadas a la raiz en tres son estilos que duran mas que las hechas en dos (twist), Por lo tanto las trenzas hechas desde la frente hasta la nuca duraran mas que dos simples colas.
• Lavarle el pelo, aplicar aceites y leave-in, hacerle trenzas para luego soltárselas en las mañanas con un lindo tocado de pelo es una excelente idea para esos días de fiestas y promociones.

Realmente no hay razón para alisar el cabello de un niño. Si nosotros los padres nos informamos sobre cómo cuidar de la cabellera hermosa de nuestros hijos, no tendríamos que recurrir a productos químicos para su controlarlo

How take the most out of your hair product? como sacar el maximo de provecho a tus productos del pelo

You go to the store and buy a  product for your beautiful curls, you get home, wet your hair and apply the treatment and #$%^&*, lol your curls don't approve  .. I don't  throw it away rather I mix it (usually more than two) and I spice up  with some oil.

This time, I mixed 3 DC (I will not mention it, your mix what you have in the bathroom) and added a little Caribbean flavor with two teaspoon of coconut oil ..

Ir a la tienda y comprar un producto para tus bellos rizos, llegas a la casa te mojas tu pelo, aplicas el tratamiento y @#$%^&* , lol tus rizos desaprueban.. yo usualmente no lo tiro a la basura mas bien lo mezclo (usualmente mas de dos) y le pongo un poco de sabor con algún aceite. 

Esta vez mezcle 3 tratamientos profundos(que no voy a menciona, tu mezcla lo que tengas en el baño) y le puse un poco de sabor caribeño con dos cucharadita de aceite de coco..

The hair  still drag imposed by the colonial ideal of what is considered beautiful: be white, have straight hair, features eurpeos Finally, a total deviation from what we are the majority. Curly hair or kinky hair is considered bad. These ideas are so ingrained in our country being black is not a possibility, there is "clear Indians, Indians or dark brown," but never black. It is very sad, but we must recognize that we have a big identity problem.
 El pelo  todavía  arrastra el ideal impuesto por la colonia de lo que se considera bello:ser blanco, tener el pelo lacio, rasgos europeos, en fin, una desviación total de lo que somos la gran mayoría. El pelo rizado o crespo se considera pelo malo. Están tan arraigadas estas ideas que en nuestro país ser negro no es ni una posibilidad, allá hay "indios claros, indios oscuros o morenos," pero negros jamás.  Es muy triste, pero hay que reconocer que tenemos un problema de identidad muy grande. 

Relaxer? Alisado?

The truth is I've never used a chemical process to straighten hair but I lasted for hours under a dryer and I use the blower from time to time. I think the difference now is that when I do, is not because I think I look better but because I want to change style. I no longer associated have straight hair with been "pretty" , "presentable" "professional" I have accepted my curls as essential to me. I understood that although the hair is molded to the change in the end, the root is always out, always define who we are.
La verdad es que nunca he recurrido a un proceso químico para alisarme el pelo pero si he durado horas bajo un secador y me paso el blower de vez en cuando. Pienso que la diferencia ahora es que cuando lo hago no lo hago porque pienso que me veo mejor si no porque quiero cambiar de estilo. Ya no asocio tener el pelo lacio con verme "presentable." He aceptado mis rizos como esencial de mí. He entendido que aunque el pelo se amolda al cambio, al final, la raíz siempre sale, siempre define lo que somos.

El imaginario colectivo dominicano está plagado de este sentimiento anti-negroide. Es más que el pelo, se trata de negar completamente parte esencial de nuestra identidad. Es algo muy triste.

Most of the time I  wear my hair curly. It is easier and faster, like I said before, do I dry my hair from time to time but only to vary the look. I think the biggest obstacle in terms of the look of our hair is ourselves. If you feel comfortable with your hair that is projected.  Casi siempre llevo el pelo rizo.  Es más fácil y rápido, como te dije antes, sí me  seco el pelo de vez en cuando pero sólo para variar el look. Yo creo que el obstáculo más grande en cuanto al look de nuestro pelo somos nosotras mismas. Si tu te sientes cómoda con tu pelo eso se proyecta. Lo primero es aceptarse como uno es y no compararse con otra gente. No importa como decidas llevar el pelo, lo que importa es que sepas quién eres y te aceptes como tal. En cuanto a productos lo más que hago es dejarme un acondicionador de un día para otro y no uso gelatinas que contengan alcohol. A veces me pongo aceite de oliva antes de lavarme el pelo porque da mucho brillo e hidrata.

Los puntos de rocío(dew points) y la glicerina? Parece que todos los productos que uso contiene glicerina o glicerina vegetal y no estoy seguro de si debe utilizar o no. Los puntos de rocío aquí son actualmente alrededor de 80. ¿Es demasiado alta para la glicerina? Muy buena pregunta! Vamos a hacer frente a esta pregunta  en tres partes: primero debatir la definición de punto de rocío, la definición de la glicerina, y el efecto de la glicerina en el cabello cuando está formulado en productos para el cuidado del cabello. Por último, vamos a discutir qué hacer.

 Punto de rocío

El punto de rocío es la temperatura a la cual el vapor de agua en el aire comienza a condensarse en un líquido. Se trata de una medida absoluta de la cantidad de vapor de agua presente en el aire exterior. Cuanto mayor sea la temperatura del punto de rocío, el vapor de agua más disponibles para condensarse en agua líquida. Por el contrario, la temperatura del punto de rocío inferior corresponde a una menor cantidad de agua disponible para condensar el vapor en agua líquida. Una buena regla de oro para el punto de rocío es la siguiente:

Las condiciones de humedad 60F a 80 F

Condiciones óptimas de 40 ° F a 60F

Las condiciones secas / Áridas menos 40F

 Glicerina

Glicerina vegetal es un líquido incoloro, viscoso, claro, (tiene la consistencia de la melaza) que es muy soluble en agua. Se produce a partir de la hidrólisis de las grasas de palma de coco y base de glicerina con agua a alta temperatura y presión. El producto se destila para eliminar el exceso de agua para producir glicerina en 99,3% de pureza. Se utiliza sobre todo como un humectante en cosméticos y productos de cuidado personal.

Los humectantes tienen dos funciones principales en productos para el cabello: absorbe el agua del aire y disminuye la velocidad a la que el agua se evapora de tu cabello. En otras palabras, en productos para el cabello, la glicerina trae el cabello en contacto con el agua y los límites de la capacidad del agua se evapore. Por lo tanto, tu cabello tiene más posibilidades de absorber el agua y mantenerse hidratado, que es la clave para tener un cabello saludable y reducir al mínimo la rotura. Por lo tanto, tener un humectante en los productos de tu cabello es una ventaja, pero, como he indicado anteriormente, hay soluciones de compromiso, sobre todo para el pelo rizado, ya que tiende a ser más porosos y se necesita la humedad adicional para mantenerse hidratado. La clave para conseguir un rendimiento óptimo de los productos de base de glicerina está utilizando a la temperatura del punto de rocío correcto.

Ahora que sabes la definición de puntos de rocío y la glicerina, vamos a discutir el efecto que tienen en su pelo, más concretamente, ¿cuál es la correlación entre los puntos de rocío y la glicerina 

Productos a base de glicerina en climas de baja Rocío

En condiciones secas, áridas, glicerina lucha por encontrar suficiente agua en el aire se una correctamente hidratado (recuerden glicerina necesidades de agua y por lo tanto, se unen a él). Así, en las condiciones de aridez, el único beneficio que la glicerina le dará a tu cabello es que se reducirá la tasa de evaporación del agua de tu cabello hacia atrás en el medio ambiente. Al mismo tiempo, la glicerina lucha para eliminar la pequeña cantidad de agua disponible desde el aire árido. Sin embargo, una vez que toda el agua disponible es consumida desde el aire, la glicerina en productos para el cabello, a continuación, se eliminará el agua disponible del producto en sí. Una vez que se ha ido, va a sacar el agua de la corteza del cabello debido a la glicerina es un humectante y necesita para mantenerse hidratado. Esta de mas  decir que el uso de productos formulados con glicerina es contraproducente para lograr un cabello saludable cuando se aplica en condiciones áridas. Que conduce a la sequedad en general, el frizz,  y una mayor probabilidad de un daño mayor al producir  puntas abiertas.

Productos de la glicerina en los climas de alta Rocío

Bajo condiciones de humedad, la glicerina hace que el pelo se vuelva más saturado de agua y por lo tanto, afecta parte de la estructura de tu cabello / enlaces de hidrógeno. No quiero entrar en la estructura química del cabello en este debate, pero debo hacer una digresión a fin de que usted obtendrá una imagen completa. Una vez más, cuando el enlace de hidrógeno se rompe, el cabello pierde un poco de estructura. No te alarmes, porque cada vez que te duchas, el champú o entrar en un clima de alta humedad, que están impactando en el enlace de hidrógeno en el pelo. Cuando el cabello mojado, que están rompiendo puentes de hidrógeno. Su cabello pierde estructura y se alarga. Durante el proceso de secado se evapora el agua, y la reforma de enlaces de hidrógeno. Estructura natural de tu cabello se reforma y el alargamiento del cabello se reduce por lo que vuelve a su estado natural. Esto se llama contracción. Además, durante el proceso de elongación, el cabello se hincha y aumenta la cutícula, lo que hace que se enreden. Pista, es por eso que el pelo se enreda cuando la lave.

 El problema con el uso de productos de base de glicerina de la humedad alta es que el proceso de secado es mas lento y aumenta las posibilidades de dañar el cabello. Cuando tu cabello está mojado o alargado, es más débil y más propenso a romperse. Obviamente, el uso de productos a base de glicerina en climas húmedos constantemente mantiene su cabello en un estado alargado. Por lo tanto, aumenta la probabilidad de que sufra daños. También puede perder su patrón de rizo y llegar a ser muy rizado, debido a que las cutículas inflamadas y se enrede, como he mencionado anteriormente. Por último, dependiendo de la concentración de glicerina en el producto, el cabello puede comenzar a sentirse más pegajoso.

Así que, ¿cuál es el mejor momento para utilizar los productos de glicerina?

1. Utilice únicamente productos con concentraciones de glicerina de alta temperatura óptima durante el punto de rocío (40F y 60F).
2. Usen productos libre de   glicerina en  condiciones de humedad. (por lo general en el verano y punto de rocío está por encima de 60F)
3. Usa leave-in y acondicionadores profundos (estándar de aceite / a base de agua) para condiciones de baja humedad, que suele ser en el invierno y punto de rocío está por debajo de 40 ° F)

 Ten en cuenta que los productos formulados con bajos niveles de glicerina, no tendrá estos efectos dramáticos sobre el cabello y para saber la cantidad de glicerina que contienen tus productos, búscalos  que la glicerina lista en la parte final de la lista de ingredientes.

I So many years I can't remember. I must've been 8 or 10 yrs old when I was forced to put a relaxer in it. Complete waste of money!

What is your hair regimen?Tienes algun regimen para tu pelo?

-I wash it three times a week. I don't do anything fancy. I de-tangle it by separating it in four parts and comb out the knots. Once a month I'll put a deep conditioner in it for about 30mins. Maybe I'll braid it, but for the most part I just wash it and put a leave in conditioner oil, some sort of moisturizer and go.
Yo lo lavo tres veces por semana. Yo no hago nada del otro mundo.. Una vez al mes me pongo un condicionador profundo duro unos 30 minutos. Quizás me hago trenzas, pero por lo general, me lo lavo y ya.

In my line of work, leaving your hair natural is the best way to keep it because sometimes you have to get up and go. You have to pack light which means in a small backpack a hair straightener, curling iron or blow dryer won't fit.
I've never had any obstacles with my hair in my line of work. Most employers respect that I keep it real.

En mi  trabajo, dejar el cabello natural es la mejor manera de mantenerlo, porque a veces hay que levantarse e ir rapidamente y empacar ligero..y eso significa tomar una  pequeña mochila y una plancha de pelo o secador no caben.
Nunca he tenido ningún obstáculo con mi pelo en mi trabajo. La mayoría de mis jefes respetan que lo mantenga real.

Is there any way I can get my top layer of hair to curl like my underneath hair. Its such a pretty tight springy Shirley temple curl. But the top is frizzy and loose stringy like.

Yes it is, I have the same problem you do, and I use a simple but efective method, I  call it  "pa'lante"
why pa' lante: I found that the shower can cause my curls to frizz right in the top of my hair. there are many ways you can to the pa'lante Technic..

•  wash your hair in sink 

 

• Use a ponchera, nooo you don't have to actually get in it, lol, you just need one to rinse your hair pa'lante after you DC treatment.

If you have another Technic!! share..

• Right when you hair is wet and pa'lante rub some oil to seal in the moisture
• Don't rub your hair with a towel, use always a shirt or a microfiber cloth and pa'lante so the top part of your hair is under minimum touch.

P.Hay alguna forma de lograr que la parte de arriba de mi pelo se rice como la de abajo? mis rizos son unos bellos espirales, pero la parte de arriba toma mucho frizz y no se riza tan bonito como la de abajo..

Claro que hay una forma, yo tengo ese mismo problema, y lo que uso es sencillo, pero efectivo, lo llamo pa'lante

porque pa'lante? yo encuentro que la ducha es la causante del frizz en la parte de arriba de pelo. Hay varias formas de hacer el método de pa'lante..

• lava tu pelo en el fregadero, lavadero o lavamanos

• Usa una ponchera. NOOO no tienes que meterte literalmente en ella solo tienes que utilizarla para enguarte el pelo pa'lante despues del tratamiento..

• Justo después del enjuague aplica unas gotas de aceite en tu pelo para sellar el humectante.

• Nunca, pero nunca utilices un toalla para secar tu pelo; utiliza un t-shirt(poloshe, plallera) o una tela de micro-fibra y pa'alante para que la parte de arriba de tu pelo tenga la menos manipulación posible..

This past weekend I tried it on my little one.. it was her recital and I want her hair to be Awesome...

Everybody thought it was a hair piece...

I try this style for the Dress rehearsal..(dry hair and spritz water to the ends) 

El pasado fin de semana trate  los flexirod en mi pequeña pajonua , era  su  presentación  de Ballet y quería que su pelo se viera bello. Todo el mundo pensaba que era cabello  postizos...Para los ensayos con vestuario trate una cola..(en el pelo seco y solo lo moje un poco en las puntas con un atomizador) 

And for the the show I tried This One, that last for the two Shows and for 3 more days..Love it..(co-wash hair)
Y para el espectáculo otro diferente, que duro impecable los 2 shows y por otros 3 días mas... Bello.. ( después de un co-lavado)
