Thanks, Chevrolet for making this road trip possible

Road Trip to San Diego For Hispanic Heritage MonthRoad Trip to San Diego For Hispanic Heritage Month! Hispanic Heritage Month is here and I thought there was no better time to take a road trip to San Diego to enjoy some family time and discover some Latinx new places. I wanted to test drive the Chevrolet Silverado 2020 for so long and they were kind enough to lend me this amazing truck for our little adventure.

Hispanic Heritage Month is an annual celebration of the history and culture of the U.S. Latinx and Hispanic communities. The event, which spans from September 15 to October 15, commemorates how those communities have influenced and contributed to American society at large.

The first stop was Chicano Park. We took all the safety measures to be safe like wearing our face masks and putting on hand sanitizer regularly. The Chevrolet Silverado is pure comfort and safety. The double cab was perfect for our 4 member family plus our fury baby.

  • Six standard airbags, including dual-stage frontal for driver and front outboard passenger; seat-mounted side-impact for driver and front outboard passenger; head-curtain for front and rear outboard seating positions. It also includes Passenger Sensing System, Tire Fill alert, HD rear vision, bed view camera, and more which makes it ideal for road trips with your family. Silverado offers best-in-class standard cargo volume. It features powerful engine choices and well-balanced handling.
    New for 2020
    • Optional 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine
    • 10-speed automatic transmission available with a 5.3-liter V8 engine
    • 6.2-liter V8 engine available in Trail Boss and RST trims
    • Maximum towing capacity upgraded to 13,400 pounds

Chicano Park is the geographic and emotional heart of Barrio Logan, located in Logan Heights, San Diego’s oldest Mexican-American neighborhood. The park is home to the largest concentration of Chicano murals in the world with more than 80 paintings on seven acres dotted with sculpture, gardens, picnic tables, and playgrounds. Throughout the year, it hosts festivals of music and Aztec dance, the biggest being Chicano Park Day held each April. Additionally, it’s the hub of an emerging arts district, with galleries, boutiques, brewpubs, and craft coffee shops nearby. Source

We went on a weekday which was perfect because it was not crowed, there is plenty of parking but there were also a lot of cars, even though the park was kind of empty with a few visitors and homeless. We wore a mask at all times even though it is an open space and we got the chance to remove our masks just for the pictures by personal choice.

The next stop is this cute Mexican Shop I follow on Instagram Artelexia. A vibrant retail shop and event space specializing in Mexican gifts, art, home décor, and gourmet foods, hosting cultural workshops & community events, and guiding travel tours to Mexico. The shop is absolutely gorgeous with unique and fun gifts. My daughters really enjoyed this visit. If you visit this month during the weekend they are having Pan de Muerto and it is delicious.

Let’s Eat. I wanted to try some Caribbean food, but of course during this time -if you are a party of 4- I advise you to do some research and call ahead for restrictions, make reservations (if possible), etc. I found the Havana Grill, a Cuban Restaurant with very good reviews. They are really taking the social distancing very seriously, they give you hand sanitizer when you arrive. Then, your order your food inside and pretty much sit at a table. The outside seating is really cute and comfortable.

The food? Is just amazing, good portions, and delicious. I am very picky when it comes to Caribbean food and I approved this place 100%. The rabo encendio was delicious, the sandwiches were super good, the Lechon was yummy, everything was good. They also have some pastries and of course Mojito and Cuban Coffee.

It definitely felt so good to leave our routine and try something new. We fell in love with the comfort of the Chevrolet Silverado 2020. My daughters slept all the way back home and they couldn’t stop talking about how spacious it is.
