Yohanna Báez is another reference for successful curly young woman,that at a young age took a backpack and a camera and got involve in a tough and dangerous documentary:The Other Border: Battle for the Beaches is the first short documentary to explore the economic control, civil rights violations and environmental impact of the tourism industry in the Dominican Republic.
She is   a writer, documentarian and production assistant. here is her hair story and her work..

Yohanna Báez es otra referencia de lo exitosa que puede ser una mujer con su pelo rizo, a su corta edad, mochila al hombro y una cámara se involucro en una dura y hasta peligrosa tarea, el documentar: “La otra frontera” . Este es un cortometraje que explora la guerra y el control económico de las playas,  los derechos civiles y del medio ambiente de la industria del turismo en la República Dominicana.
Es escritora, documentalista y asistente de producción. Aquí esta la historia de sus rizos..

How long you have you been natural?Que tiempos llevas con el pelo natural(sin alizados)

I So many years I can’t remember. I must’ve been 8 or 10 yrs old when I was forced to put a relaxer in it. Complete waste of money!

What is your hair regimen?Tienes algun regimen para tu pelo?

-I wash it three times a week. I don’t do anything fancy. I de-tangle it by separating it in four parts and comb out the knots. Once a month I’ll put a deep conditioner in it for about 30mins. Maybe I’ll braid it, but for the most part I just wash it and put a leave in conditioner oil, some sort of moisturizer and go.
Yo lo lavo tres veces por semana. Yo no hago nada del otro mundo.. Una vez al mes me pongo un condicionador profundo duro unos 30 minutos. Quizás me hago trenzas, pero por lo general, me lo lavo y ya.

How hard is for a woman in the media goes against the type of beauty we always see ?Que tan dificil es para una mujer en el medio en el cual trabajas el ir en contra de los estandares de belleza ? has tenido algun obstaculo por tu pelo?

In my line of work, leaving your hair natural is the best way to keep it because sometimes you have to get up and go. You have to pack light which means in a small backpack a hair straightener, curling iron or blow dryer won’t fit.
I’ve never had any obstacles with my hair in my line of work. Most employers respect that I keep it real.

En mi  trabajo, dejar el cabello natural es la mejor manera de mantenerlo, porque a veces hay que levantarse e ir rapidamente y empacar ligero..y eso significa tomar una  pequeña mochila y una plancha de pelo o secador no caben.
Nunca he tenido ningún obstáculo con mi pelo en mi trabajo. La mayoría de mis jefes respetan que lo mantenga real.
