Read This Before you Color Your Curly Hair At Home
If you are thinking of coloring your curly hair at home, you may want to take a minute to read this post to be successful. Some Curly girls are afraid to add some color to their curls, but I can tell you from experience that if you follow these tips, you won’t have any trouble.
BEFORE YOU COLOR YOUR HAIR

One mistake I made in the past is applying the hair color on dirty hair, which is a big mistake for us curly-haired girls. The reason is simple, we use a lot of oils, leave-in, gels and creams, which means that our hair is pretty much saturated in products which makes the job of the coloring very difficult.
So, make sure you wash your hair one or two days before you color with shampoo. This will make sure you get rid of all the oils and products in your hair. I then follow up with a deep treatment and detangle my hair with it and leave it on for one hour.Rinse it out and don’t apply any more product. I let it air dry and then do a bun to avoid tangles. You will get a richer and uniform color while protecting your hair.

CHOOSING YOUR COLOR

One of the most asked questions is what hair color to use. For me, coloring my hair is fun – which I do from time to time – it’s a necessity because I have grey hair and I am not ready to embrace it just yet, which means I have to color my hair often.

I have been using Schwarzkopf® color ULTÎME® for a while now and I really love it because I can easily do it at home, it leaves my curls strong and healthy looking, it is for all hair textures and the color intensity lasts up to 9 weeks.

This time I used Schwarzkopf® color ULTÎME® in the shade “Cinnamon Brown” a shade darker than last time, because I wanted to completely cover my old highlights that were getting a little brassy and dull.

COLOR STEP BY STEP

  1. Part your hair in four
  2. Prepare your mix – the package has a very detailed instructions –
  3. Apply the coloration mixture on the hair thoroughly. Ensure all hair is covered evenly. Apply to grey hair first. Leave it on for 30 minutes.
  4. At the end of the processing time, apply warm water to hair and work into lather. Do this until water runs clear. Finally, shampoo your hair and rinse.
  5. Use the intense conditioning treatment on the package to achieve a softer and beautiful shine.
  6. Detangle, rinse and style as usual.

WHERE TO BUY

I always buy my Schwarzkopf® products at Rite Aid because they have so many products available. I am planning a few hairstyles that I will be needing a hair spray for and since I heard so many good things about Schwarzkopf® got2b® Glued Freeze Blasting Spray  I brought that home with me as well.

MAINTENANCE

There are a few things you can do to maintain your color and the first one is not to wash your hair for a few days after you color your hair.
Use a sulfate free shampoo and/or made for color treated hair as these tend to be more gentle on colored hair and won’t strip your natural oils which helps to maintain the tones and shades of your new color.

Deep condition your hair at least once a month to keep your hair healthy and strong. If you have grey hair, use a hair makeup product to cover them between colors, so you don’t have to color your hair so often to maintain the health of your curls.

You don’t have to be afraid of coloring your curly hair at home and change it up from time to time if you follow these simple tips, because curly girls have more fun!
